Notice of burial is to be given to the Clerk to the Council at least 14 clear days before the intended burial—you can complete a Notice of Internment or contact a local funeral director who will act on your behalf.
The certificate of the death of the person to be buried, or the coroner’s certificate (when an inquest has been held), must be delivered with payment to the Clerk of the Council 3 days before the internment.
Please note that the office is closed on Saturday, Sunday, and bank holidays.
Summer Burials (April–September) burials take place between 10 am and 3:00 pm, Monday to Thursday, and between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm on a Friday.
Winter burials (October–March) burials take place between 10 am and 2:30 pm, Monday to Thursday, and between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on a Friday.
- New plots at St. Andrew’s Cemetery are restricted to residents living in Dinas Powys at the time of death. The only concession to this is that if the resident has been in a care home/residential home for their social and medical needs (moving directly there from their home address)
- Please note we do not allow anyone to pre-purchase grave plots.
