VE Day 2025 was commemorated in Dinas Powys with a heartfelt service held on the Twyn in the Village. Students from Dinas Powys Primary, St Andrews, and Ysgol Pen y Garth participated by laying wreaths alongside representatives from the Legion and Dinas Powys Community Council. Colin Turner served as the Master of Ceremonies, reading the names of those who lost their lives, while Father Andrew and Rev Jon from the Baptist Church led the officiating. Eleanor Foster, a talented trumpeter, played a moving last post. The event was organised by the Dinas Powys Community Council, with special thanks to the staff and the DP Women’s Institute for providing refreshments. Additionally, gratitude is extended to Tim for sharing his time and bringing his mother’s medals for display, as well as to Idwal Symonds’ family for lending a photograph for the occasion.
